San Clemente Mountain-Reroute for Carmel River

by Paola Fiorelle Berthoin on 12/16/2014 6:48:42 PM

Here are two paintings showing the process of the excavation of the mountain to make way for the Carmel River to flow through the San Clemente Creek drainage. In the second painting, the forested image at the top of the triptych shows the mountain before it was denuded of trees and associated habitat. Here is a link to a short video showing the first rock blast on the mountain, uploaded by James Donahue in August 2014. As of December 16, 2014, the Carmel River is now flowing through this new reroute drainage. Here is a link to the article in the San Francisco Chronicle. I look forward to dong a painting on site soon showing this next step!
