Watershed Landscapes

This series of watershed landscape paintings began in 2007 and continues to grow...

I went out most every Friday. Each time, before painting, I began with writing reflections of the physical surroundings and internal place I found myself. This project kept me grounded in the reality of the moment and the beauty of the watershed.  The light through fog, smells of the earth after a rain, the pungency of sage on a hot day, the buoyant storm clouds all encouraged and challenged me to keep going, to see what the next experience would be painting in the watershed.

It is my intention through these paintings to convey a holistic perspective of the watershed and to impart a dedication and caring for the land and river that supports our lives.  I paint not only to convey the truth of what I see but also the feelings of the land as they speak to me through the elements of sun, wind, fog and rain.

Purchase of these paintings and Paola's river paintings supports the ongoing conservation of habitat for red-legged frogs and many other animals that reside on the land where Paola lives.
