This landmark oak has been growing here for at least two hundred years or longer. No doubt this tree was here when the native people of this area, Rumsen-Ohlone lived here. Not far from this guardian tree, I found an obsidian arrowhead at the foot of the earth that had been graded to make a pad for our family home in 1972. I only wish I had not lost it. The memory of holding the tool in my hand at the age of 12 still strikes a chord in me, now 64.
